An ideal course for anyone who is interested in taking up or improving their watercolour painting!

This ancient form of brush painting developed in China is rich in tradition and blends structure with creativity in a unique and beautiful way.  Participants will be using traditional brushes and will grind their own ink using an ink block and stone.  They will learn how to use different brushstrokes to achieve images that are full of life and experience using rice paper. To finish off we will be creating scrolls from our pictures and creating our own ‘chops’ to sign them. Although this is a specifically Chinese method of working, the lessons learned translate really well into more western styles of painting.

There is some cutting with a craft knife involved.
