Coptic Bookbinding – All Day Workshop Various dates available

This course offers you the chance to make your own bespoke sketchbook or journal using recycled paper, card and stylish cover paper. You will learn a traditional art first developed by Coptic Christians. In the first part of the day we create individual covers (you can choose the pattern, size and orientation) and fold paper into ‘signatures’.  When the covers have been glued we use awls to make holes in the paper and covers and then stitch the book together using suitable threads of your choice. At the end of the day you will have a proper book to take home that you have made yourself!  It’s incredibly satisfying to achieve that and equally important you will have learned a new skill that you can keep using! Even better you can use your book to write or draw in or give to a special person as a unique gift.  This is a great experience for yourself or to gift to a ‘crafty’ loved one.
